Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Kommersant FM on the opportunity to support the current volume of Russian oil exports at the expense of domestic tankers or ships under our jurisdiction.
In order to maintain the current volume of exports, Russian companies need to purchase about 200 tankers, the Norwegian Rystad Energy calculated.
However, this is a feasible task, Aleksey Gromov said:
“We will overcome sanctions restrictions in these areas, because insurance schemes with the participation of Russian companies are already being applied under separate contracts for the supply of oil to countries such as China, India and Turkey. So we can provide 65-70% of fuel transportation at the expense of domestic tankers or ships in our jurisdiction.”
