The Economic & Technology Research Institute (ETRI) is the think tank of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in the field of economics and technological development of the oil and gas complex. ETRI is one of the main centers of energy analysis and forecasting in the PRC, being 100% subsidiary of CNPC.
In December 2017, FIEF and CNPC ETRI signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in research activities. In accordance with the Memorandum, the Institutes prepare joint research on topical issues and problems of oil and gas cooperation between Russia and China on a reciprocal and gratuitous basis, as well as organize joint events.
ETRI is currently a key partner of FIEF in China.
On April 3, 2019, the Parties held the first bilateral scientific seminar "Russian-Chinese Energy Cooperation: Prospects, Challenges and Uncertainties" in Beijing.
