Marcel Salikhov, President of the Institute for Energy and Finance, and Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department, commented to Bloknot.ru on the possible consequences of Ukraine's exit from the energy system common with Russia and Belarus.
Energy experiment on people
On February 24-26, Ukraine will be disconnected from the energy system shared with Russia and Belarus for three days. The goal is to test the operation in isolated mode. The fact is that Kiev declares its intention to connect to European providers within the next few years.
The synchronization project with the energy interconnection of European countries UCTE will be difficult, Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic department of the Institute of Energy and Finance says.
According to the President of the Institute of Energy and Finance, Professor of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Marcel Salikhov, at current prices for the population, the project is not feasible.- In Ukraine, the main consumers and the largest power plants are located in the east and in the center, the reflows from the regions to the west are limited. This means that you either need to increase the bandwidth of the networks. And this will take several years and billions of euros. Or, prepare for restrictions for consumers and generation.
- We'll have to raise tariffs first. Yes, you can raise money and then cover the costs. In this case, for example, within 10-20 years they will be invested in a payment system, Salikhov believes.
