Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Internet publication Pravda.ru on the logic of Ukraine's refusal to transit Russian gas to the EU through Sokhranovka.

Alexey Gromov told Pravda.Ru that the logic of the Ukrainian authorities' actions lies both in the policy and in the technological features of gas transit through Ukraine.

If we talk about the political side of the issue, then "Ukraine demonstrates that in this situation it does not take responsibility for pumping through this transit corridor from Russia and offers to transfer everything to the Sudzha point controlled by Ukraine," the expert noted.

From a technological point of view, there are objective problems of transferring transit volumes of gas to the Sudzha point, Alexey Gromov continued.
