A decree on payment for gas in rubles does not mean the cessation of supplies

Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to RIA Novosti on the contractual terms of payment for Russian gas supplies to European countries.

As Alexey Belogoryev explained to RIA Novosti, it follows from the decree that the first payments for Russian gas in rubles must be made during April, probably in most contracts the period is not earlier than the 10^thof April. According to him, it is difficult to establish the exact date of payment on your own, since the texts of Gazprom's contracts with contractors are not disclosed.

"But in any case, the payment for April must be made during April. Given that the decree everywhere (paragraphs 11, 12, 15 and 16) contains a 10-day period for the development of further procedures and rules, including the provision of exceptions, it is likely, the payment deadline for most contracts is no earlier than April 10," the expert concludes.
