Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Kommersant FM radio station on the reasons for the growth in Russian LNG exports in 2022 and its medium-term prospects:
“Growth in shipments is observed throughout the year, and it really accelerated in the fall. For example, in October 62% of all Russian exports of liquefied natural gas went to European countries. The United Kingdom and the Baltic countries completely refused to supply. By the end of the year, we can expect the overall growth of Russian LNG exports by about 9%, and this is a very good indicator, which means that all plants are operating at design capacity or even slightly higher.”
