Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Baltnews on the possible nationalization of Gazprom Germania.

Europe denies the possibility of paying for Russian gas supplies in rubles, although the system does not fundamentally change anything for the EU. In an attempt to change the decision of the Russian Federation, blackmail and bluff are used, including threats from Germany to nationalize the subsidiaries of Gazprom and Rosneft.

As Alexey Belogoryev noted, at the moment the nationalization of the subsidiaries of Gazprom and Rosneft is nothing more than one of the scenarios that the German Ministry of Economics is considering. So far, such a decision is only being considered, and this does not mean that it will be implemented.

“If the Russian company continues this year’s policy of low injection, then Germany may take unprecedented measures to force Gazprom. But it seems to me that it will not come to that. This issue can be resolved without nationalization,” he added.
