Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies at the Institute of Energy and Finance, commented to the Oil and Capital publication on the topic of unpacking strategic oil reserves in the United States.

“In any case, you will have to fill in the SPR, but it is not entirely clear how exactly. The actions of the White House are now somewhat contradictory. On the one hand, Washington is trying to put pressure on Moscow with the help of sanctions, blocking Russian oil on the world market. On the other hand, its absence provokes an increase in prices on the world market and on the fuel market in America. The US leadership's initiatives are of a very short-term nature. At the same time, I’m not sure that Washington has some kind of comprehensive solution to the problem with oil prices and simultaneous pressure on the Russian Federation,” Alexey Belogoryev says.
