Marcel Salikhov, president of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Gazeta.ru on the risks for European countries when switching to rubles in gas payments.
Marcel Salikhov, head of the economic department at the Institute for Energy and Finance, believes that countries can revise contracts with Gazprom, since the transaction currency is an integral part of the contract, which cannot be changed unilaterally.
At the same time, Salikhov also noted that nothing prevents foreign companies from entering the Moscow Exchange.“Companies will have different reactions. Someone may require for themselves additional discounts on the price. This is a long process, because Gazprom has more than 100 contracts in the European Union,” Salikhov explained to Gazeta.Ru.
