Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Vedomosti newspaper on the prospects for the LUKOIL refinery sale in Burgas.
The Burgas refinery is really important for the Bulgarian economy, as it provides 80% of the country's fuel. Failures are fraught with a fuel crisis, which is why the Bulgarian authorities and the opposition are interested in the deal, Alexey Belogoryev notes.
The entry of traders into oil refining is a global trend, not to say that Gunvor would be completely uninterested in the Bulgarian asset of Lukoil, he adds.
According to Belogoryev, Gunvor's rejection of the deal complicates and lengthens the process of selling Lukoil's foreign assets, as well as finding alternative buyers for them.
