Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the InfoTEK publication on the possibility of the US administration to influence the cost of LNG supplies to European consumers:

“The US government has nothing to do with LNG supplies, they are all carried out by private companies, where there is not even state participation. Therefore, the government can recommend lower prices, apply some kind of fiscal measures, but I can’t imagine how this can be done regarding only LNG supplies for a particular market, which clearly contradicts antitrust laws," the expert believes.

According to him, the maximum here can be a recommendation for companies. The US government has no authority to regulate the LNG market, the expert noted.
