Sergei Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department commented on the work of the Belarusian NPP to Sputnik radio station.
Sergei Kondratyev, senior expert at the Institute for Energy and Finance, on the air of Sputnik radio called it natural that the BelNPP is debugging all systems before the first unit is put into commercial operation.
“This is a very serious, very significant project for the Belarusian energy sector. Its integration into the Belarusian energy system requires careful, painstaking and rather long work. Because even one power unit - the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP - will produce about a quarter of all electricity consumed in the republic. It’s a lot, especially taking into account the seasonal and, most importantly, intraday unevenness (of consumption, - ed.). It is necessary to check that the network infrastructure is working well, so that it is possible to manage reserve capacities, etc. The republic has carried out an energy start-up and now will deal with all the questions," Sergei Kondratiev said.
