Russia has begun to expand the geography of gasoline imports

Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Izvestia newspaper on the situation regarding gasoline imports into Russia.

In his opinion, the Kazakh plant “Kondensat” will be able to supply up to 10,000 tons of gasoline to Russia per month. On a national scale, 120–140 thousand tons per year is a relatively small figure, but these supplies can provide significant volumes of gasoline and diesel for certain regions of the Russian Federation that border northwestern Kazakhstan — the Orenburg, Samara, or Saratov regions. “Condensate” will most likely supply fuel of the Euro‑5 standard.

Alexey Belogoryev believes that all maritime deliveries to the European part of Russia — and above all from India — involve significant transportation costs, often including transshipment directly at sea from one vessel to another. From the perspective of production costs and delivery timeframes, they are not very efficient, the expert explained. That is why, in his opinion, Belarus will remain Russia’s key partner in this area. Although its rail deliveries fell in August compared to July, the country still accounts for almost half of Russia’s imports.
