Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, gave an interview to Regnum regarding the prospects for gas relations between Russia and Moldova.
Gazprom is striving to achieve a political compromise with Moldova.
“There is no solution to the problem with gas supplies to Moldova from an infrastructure point of view,” the expert said.
"Gazprom wants to agree on the future, including the possible use of the Yassy-Ungheni route for the supply of 1.5 billion cubic meters in the future via Nord Stream 2. It is unlikely through the "Turkish Stream", because if we talk about the second stage, then it has already been contracted and there are no free volumes, and they are unlikely to be," Belogoryev noted.
"Gazprom is concerned about this problem, and the company would like to reach some kind of political agreement with Moldova,” Belogoryev concluded.
