Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies commented to Radio Sputnik (Latvia) about the Austria's position on Nord Stream 2.
In the current environment, any news from Russia's western partners that show their commitment to Nord Stream 2 should be considered as positive, said Alexei Gromov, Director for Energy, Head of the Energy Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance.
According to the expert, much will depend on the results of the consideration of the appeal filed by Gazprom against the decision of the Polish judicial authorities regarding Nord Stream 2."I would be careful not to talk about a certain mainstream here. In recent years, litigation around key projects of the Russian Gazprom has often ended not in its favor. However, the statement of OMV can be considered as a designation of the position that there are companies in Europe that are ready to defend the implementation of the project along with Gazprom,” Gromov explained to Sputnik Latvia.
