Alexander Novak: the domestic market is "provided with both gasoline and diesel fuel"

Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Business FM on the meaning of introducing an excise tax on gasoline produced from straight-run gasoline and extending the fuel damper to imported gasoline:

"The same rule, in fact, is aimed at combating the production of so-called diluted gasoline. When they try to mix the same naphtha with additives in earnest, without paying excise tax at all. The government is fighting, on the one hand, to increase the tax base, and on the other hand, to ensure that absolutely low-quality gasoline, a substitute, does not enter the market. And this would not have led to significant technical problems for car owners. Although the permission to produce gasoline of low environmental classes in itself creates quite serious risks for cars. But in this case, they are trying to fight an even greater evil in the form of frankly dilution of gasoline."
