The Energy Policy magazine of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation published an article by Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, - "COVID-19 pandemic: a black swan or a sign from above?", where an influence of the pandemic COVID 19 on the processes of deep socio-cultural, energy-informational and even civilizational transformation of society and man analyzed.
The outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, which struck the world in 2020-2021, had a serious impact on all spheres of the socio-economic life of society, not only provoking the strongest global socio-economic and energy crisis since the end of World War II, but also becoming a kind of trigger to accelerate the processes of deep socio-cultural, energy-informational and even civilizational transformation of society and man.
In most of today's publications and studies on the topic of the pandemic, great attention is paid to the analysis and assessment of its economic and social consequences in their traditional understanding (reduction of business activity due to recurring lockdowns of a number of leading economies of the world, an increase in unemployment, an unprecedented crisis in the global hydrocarbon markets etc.). At the same time, many of us, consciously or subconsciously, still assess the pandemic as a temporary “failure” of the socio-economic development of our economy and society, which will soon be overcome, and the world will return to the pre-pandemic paradigm of its evolutionary development.
However, it is very likely that the COVID 19 pandemic has accelerated the transition of our society and the world economic system as a whole to a new stage of civilizational development, based on accelerating the processes of energy-informational transformation of the entire way of life we are used to in all its diversity.
It seems that the pandemic has become not so much a “black swan” that broke the usual way of life of people, but also a kind of “sign from above” that not only shook up humanity, but also showed the whole world the need for a different path of civilizational development, based not on economic dominant and commodity-money relations in everything and everyone, but on the principles of sociohumanism, when a person comes to the fore, his health and harmony with the world around him.
