Marcel Salikhov, president of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Izvestia newspaper on gas prices in the United States.
In recent years, the global gas market, previously highly fragmented, has become more connected due to the expansion of the LNG segment, Marcel Salikhov stated.
— Therefore, low gas prices in the United States have an impact on other markets — Asia and Europe. However, the limitation is the capacity of LNG export terminals in the United States, which are almost fully loaded. Moreover, the demand for gas in the EU continues to decline, which also affects the need for LNG imports. I don't expect the market to be overstocked, but prices will probably remain low this year.
