Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Business FM on the impact of the Iranian crisis on global oil and gas markets and how this crisis benefits Russia:
"What is happening now, of course, exceeds expectations, but still not radically. Of course, there is a potential for escalation both from Iran and from Iran's opponents. But for now, there are only advantages, and Russia will probably be the main beneficiary here, at least. Moreover, Russia has just free volumes for China, and in recent weeks there have been cuts from India. Therefore, the Iranian crisis may add some millions of tons of additional exports in 2026 for oil, and maybe even for petroleum products."
