Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Profil magazine on the oil leak from the Druzhba pipeline in Poland.

The accident at the Druzhba oil pipeline could be beneficial for the US and Poland. At the same time, it is too early to talk about the reasons for the leak, and the Polish side does not call it sabotage, although certain analogies with the damage to the Nord Stream come to mind, Sergey Kondratiev told Profile about this.

“Representatives of the Polish side talk about an accident, but it seems to me that the accident is really strange, especially given the recent events with Nord Stream. In general, damage to infrastructure in Europe has become a trend, and it is now very noticeable,” he said.

The expert recalled that Poland and Germany had previously stated that they were ready to refuse the supply of Russian oil through pipelines from December 5, but after the accident at Druzhba, this could happen earlier.

"The beneficiaries of the incident with the oil pipeline, as in the case of the Nord Stream, could be the United States as an oil supplier and Poland, which has long been trying to diversify through supplies from the Middle East and become an energy hub," Kondratiev said.
