Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the TASS agency on the consequences of including nuclear energy in the EU's "green" taxonomy.

In countries using nuclear energy, the attitude towards it remains generally positive or neutral, Belogoryev noted.

The inclusion of nuclear power plants in the European taxonomy will contribute to the recognition of Russian nuclear projects as low-carbon ones. It was stated by Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Director for Energy at the Institute for Energy and Finance.

"The inclusion of nuclear power plants in the European taxonomy is potentially important, in my opinion, primarily in terms of the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, namely, the prospects for recognition in the EU of foreign, including Russian, nuclear projects as creating emission reduction units," he said.
