Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the InfoTEK Internet portal on the possible exemption of Russian oil and petroleum products transportation operators from excess profit tax.
At the same time, oil and gas companies also suffered from the reduction of sales markets, remaining large taxpayers.“We must understand that oil and gas companies could potentially earn on high prices, but at the same time they took the brunt of the sanctions and had to spend quite a lot of money on reconfiguring logistics routes,” Gromov said.
"In this regard, withdrawing these companies, including Transneft, from the additional tax on excess profits seems to be a completely reasonable story," the analyst emphasized.
