Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, made comments to the Vedomosti newspaper on the meaning of disconnecting the Baltic countries from BRELL.
Alexey Belogoryev notes that the transition has been preparing for more than 10 years, and the Baltic States have not consumed Russian electricity for a long time. The expert considers the break between the Baltic States and Belarus and Belarusian nuclear energy to be more significant: the Belarusian nuclear power plant was built largely with an export orientation to the Baltic States and Poland. Desynchronization with Russia was more a matter of technical maintenance of networks.
