Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Neft and Capital Internet portal on the prospects for lifting US sectoral sanctions against the Russian oil and gas industry in the event of the in Ukraine’s conflict settlement.

Alexey Gromov believes that if any restrictions are lifted, it will be from the United States. The restrictive measures of Britain and the EU are unlikely to be weakened or lifted.

"First of all, if Washington begins to loosen its sanctions grip, Trump may withdraw the restrictions against LUKOIL and Rosneft that his administration recently imposed. This is very typical for Trump, who likes to raise rates first, as was the case with duties, and then lift some of the sanctions during negotiations in order to negotiate the best deal for himself," Alexey Gromov said in a comment for NIK.
