Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance commented to the Internet portal "Pravda.Ru " on the reasons for the gas prices decline in Europe.
The expert said that the drop in gas prices is due to weather conditions. Autumn temperatures have set in Europe.
He noted that the volume of Russian gas supplies to Europe remains about the same."This allows significantly less gas consumption not only for the population, but also for industrial enterprises and electric power facilities. And all this is happening against the background of a high degree of occupancy of European underground gas storage facilities, maintaining the availability of liquefied natural gas and stabilization with pipeline gas supplies from all sources, including from Russia," Gromov explained.
"As soon as the weather returns to normal, gas consumption in Europe will begin to recover, which will also restore prices. But so far, the weather breaks all the forecasts of experts on the occurrence of a gas shortage in Europe and the preservation of high energy prices in this region," the expert said.
