Maxim Shevyrenkov, head of the Center for Commodity Market Analysis at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Forbes on the measures to combat the crisis in the Russian fuel market.
Maxim Shevyrenkov believes that reducing the ecological class of gasoline, combined with limiting fuel supply at gas stations, will be an effective measure to ease shortages, especially in regions with relatively small fuel storage facilities. The negative effect on the environment from using such fuel will be relatively unnoticeable, he says.
Shevyrenkov believes that the best way to combat excessive demand for fuel would be restrictions that the authorities should impose at all gas stations in the country.
