Not by expenses. How will the heating season in Europe go?

Belogoryev Alexey M. Research and Development Director, Director of the Center for Energy strategic analysis and forecasting

Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Finance.Mail.ru about the situation on the European gas market.

"The heating season in the EU began around October 22, earlier than in the previous two years. But the reserves in UGS are still at the level of 95% (99 billion cubic meters)," Alexey Belogoryev explained.

According to him, the heating season will surely end with fewer reserves than in the spring of 2023 and 2024, when they exceeded half of the UGS volumes. It is quite natural to reduce them to 30% or even less. "This will lead to increased demand for gas to replenish reserves next summer, but there will be enough gas in winter," the expert believes.
