Alexander Titov, Head of the Global Oil Market Sector at the Energy Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Kommersant on the transshipment cargo base changes at the Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MCSP).
According to Alexander Titov, if a decision to radically reduce the transshipment of coal in MCSP is made, only mineral fertilizers can replace it.
"They also need Capesize and greater depths, because there is a large distance for supplies to Brazil and India," he believes. Plus, fertilizer exports are growing now, new production capacities are being introduced, and there are no sanctions on fertilizers yet. Yes, in 2025, an increase in fertilizer transshipment capacity is expected in Ust-Luga: the expansion of Ultramar and Eurochem Terminal Ust-Luga. This reduces the need for a new terminal in the Northwest."
