Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the radio station "Sputnik Litva" on the prospects for energy resources supplies to the Baltic countries.

Most likely, the Baltic republic is using the temporary suspension of gas supplies at the request of Gazprom to attract attention, said expert Sergei Kondratiev.

In an interview with Sputnik Lithuania, a senior expert at the Institute for Energy and Finance, Sergei Kondratiev, said that neighboring countries would not agree that it is the LNG terminal that is needed if gas transit is interrupted. Moreover, there were no such situations.

“For 30 years of the Lithuania independence, such cases have never occurred. Kaliningrad did not cut off transit. Kaliningrad conducted such tests-exercises on how energy supply to the region can be ensured if supplies from outside are interrupted, in this case from Lithuania. It was a moment, to a large extent connected with the policy of the Lithuanian state, because over the past few years Lithuania has been aggravating the situation in every possible way, offering to be disconnected from BRELL, offering to stop gas supplies to the Kaliningrad region," he said.
