When is the Kamchatka gasification project being implemented using LNG

Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented on the prospects for the Kamchatka Territory gasification to the Prime agency.

"There is a roadmap for the gasification of the region, approved by the Russian government in August 2023. According to it, all the main facilities should be put into operation by the end of 2025. Given the difficult situation of Novatek, I would proceed from the possibility of shifting this deadline to 2026," he said.

According to the agency interlocutor, it remains unclear what will become the main resource base for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Avacha Bay. Initially, it was assumed that this would be the Arctic LNG 2 plant, but due to problems with the supply of Arc7 class gas tankers, it will indefinitely experience difficulties with LNG transportation in the eastern direction.
