Sergei Kondratiev gave an oral commentary to the Sputnik radio station on the impact of US sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 project.
"In fact, even after the completion of Nord Stream 2, the opponents of the project still have a very large room for maneuver. For example, adoption of sanctions against the buyers of Russian gas, who will receive gas through this gas pipeline. We have heard, that politicians in Eastern Europe and the US were talking about such prospects," he said.
"The project is very important for Gazprom, based on the funds that were spent and invested. Each year of such unfinished construction costs Gazprom quite dearly," the expert added.
“Now, I think, Gazprom has all the conditions to complete this project. Of course, provided that it does not encounter significant opposition from the European side, primarily from Germany. The project is very important for Gazprom, based on the funds that have been spent," Kondratiev said.
