Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Novye Izvestia Internet portal on the reasons for the easing of the tax burden on Gazprom.
— The tax exemptions that the government has offered Gazprom this year are a kind of compensation for the tax overpayments that Gazprom has been making over the past three years. But this is not the main reason why the government is currently creating comfortable tax conditions for Gazprom to operate in the Russian market. The main reason is to provide Gazprom with the resources to maintain high investment activity, Alexey Gromov says.
