Gazprom did not rule out record gas prices in winter. What should Europe prepare for?

Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Business FM on the record gas prices in the EU:

“I think, that Europe could well, in order to launch Nord Stream 2, at least on a temporary basis, give it a temporary exception for the period of the autumn-winter heating season. Another thing is that it hurts their political prestige. Therefore, a fundamental question arises: how long will the political expediency prevail over the economic realities in Europe? Let's see what will happen. In any case, of course, returning the launch of Nord Stream 2 to the agenda would help Europe significantly reduce the potential gas shortage in the coming winter.”
