Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented on starting the gas-in procedure for the first string of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Business FM.
- The final decision lies with the German authorities, which are currently also carrying out the certification procedure, and we hope that they will do this as soon as possible. This is undoubtedly a positive signal for the European market. But in the coming months Gazprom will not be able to instantly fill NS2 with gas, at least half of its design capacity, that is, fill it by 27.5 billion cubic meters in order to meet the requirements of the Third Energy Package. And even Gazprom itself said that the most probable volumes are 5 billion cubic meters of gas in the coming months.
