Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the TASS news agency on the prospects for Russian gas exports in 2026.
Alexey Belogoryev believes that no drastic changes in supplies are expected in 2026: supplies to Europe (the EU and the Balkans without Turkey) will remain close to the level of 2025, that is, about 16 billion cubic meters of pipeline gas.
"The volume of LNG supplies from Russia to Europe in 2026 will change within 14 million tons (19 billion cubic meters). As is often the case in the run-up to bans, importers are stocking up for the future, which should balance out the likely planned reduction in purchases from individual countries. Russian LNG supplies to the EU under short-term contracts are insignificant, so the ban on such supplies is largely symbolic and has little effect on total exports," the analyst noted.
