Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the "Rhythm of Eurasia" magazine on the common energy markets formation in Russia, Belarus and the EAEU countries.

Noteworthy is the assessment of the general electric market benefits, expressed by Alexey Belogoryev:

"The market provides more benefits to Belarus, as the country is interested in increasing electricity exports to the Russian Federation."

More precisely, the recent launch of the second power unit of the Belarusian NPP "creates a large capacity surplus. And now Belarus cannot export electricity to Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland (and Latvia. – Ed.). Therefore, Russia remains the main export destination in the framework of the unified energy market for it – at least in the near and medium term." Moreover, according to the expert, due to excess electricity, since the beginning of the operation of the nuclear power plant, Belarus has already reduced the consumption of gas coming from Russia.
