Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Baltnews Internet portal on the EU gas market terms of the current conflict in the Middle East.
Alexey Gromov noted the critical dependence of the EU on imports. Local refineries, which are losing competition to plants in India and the Middle East, are simply unable to meet demand.
The long-term storage of some petroleum products is limited by their properties, and there is no one in the region to increase processing."The problem is that jet fuel and other fuels need to be produced here and now, but European plants cannot cope with this task even with the availability of raw materials," the expert explained in a conversation with Baltnews.
