The outcomes of the year in the LNG market: where will it go next

Belogoryev Alexey M. Research and Development Director, Director of the Center for Energy strategic analysis and forecasting

Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, gave an interview to RIA Novosti and the Prime news agency about the development of the global and European LNG market.

Alexey Belogoryev estimates that the share of American supplies to EU countries in January-November of this year reached about 44%. For comparison, Russia held a share of 19%, Qatar - 12% and Algeria - 9%.

The United States plans to further increase its presence in the global gas market due to LNG plants already under construction in the country with a capacity of 64 million tons per year, with 86.8 million tons already operating, the expert believes. And by 2030, it is planned to commission at least 74 million more tons. However, as practice shows, there are practically no projects that have reached the planned production targets without violating deadlines.
