Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, gave a comment to Sputnik Uzbekistan on electricity trade in the Central Asian region.
"Electricity supplies from Siberia can contribute to the restoration of a single energy ring not only with the Central Asian countries, but also to the integration with the power systems of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran. Uzbekistan and Russia can make a considerable profit in this market by trading electricity and carrying out its transit. Siberia, with its powerful hydroelectric power plants, can act as a natural regulator here. If all countries manage to reach an agreement, it will change the situation in the entire Eurasian space," the expert believes.
