Vladimir Feigin gave an interview to Radio Sputnik on the fate of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline

15 December 2017

Vladimir Feygin President (2011-2020), Principal Director (2005-2010)

Vladimir Feigin, President of the Institute for Energy and Finance gave an interview to Radio Sputnik regarding the fate of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline:

«This is already a question of geography: is it possible to reach the territory of Germany without affecting the territorial waters of Denmark. Gazprom says that it is possible. I do not think that it is possible to completely block the construction. The central question is to obtain a permit for operating the gas pipeline. The Commission wants gas pipelines such as Nord Stream 2 to fall under the Third package (the Third energy package is an integral part of the EU legislation on the liberalization of the gas and energy markets — ed.) If they manage to get the decision approved within a couple of months, this is also not critical, it will be necessary to negotiate. If it fails, they will apparently regulate the regime of gas pipelines that connected to Nord Stream 2. I do not think that it is possible to ban construction, but there will be questions with the regime of use.»
