Alexander Titov, senior expert at the Energy Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Kommersant on the Russian Railways coal loading forecast until 2030.
Alexander Titov says that 300 million tons of coal by 2030 is too pessimistic an estimate, suggesting a decrease in loading by 25-30 million tons. According to him, such a drop is possible due to a reduction in production or the emergence of new private railways in addition to the Pacific railway. But coal production will not decrease so much, and the Pacific railway will not take so much, Mr. Titov is sure.
On the contrary, the analyst expects a slight increase in supplies in the medium term due to the recovery in prices. For 2026, its loading forecast is a slight increase compared to 2025, to about 330 million tons.
