Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, gave a comment to the internet portal RT Russian about the construction of a nuclear power plant in Finland.

The Dispute Review Board (DRB) has confirmed the illegality of the termination of the contract for the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant construction in Finland. This is reported by the press service of Rosatom.

Sergey Kondratiev suggested that the DRB decision could serve as a foundation for the subsequent recovery of money from Fennovoima Oy for terminated obligations and "expenses incurred by the state corporation."

"Rosatom has every right to demand compensation payments, as it carried out survey work under the contract, developed a feasibility study of the NPP project, and pre-ordered certain types of equipment. I think it is highly likely that the state corporation will receive payments from the Finnish side," Kondratiev believes.
