Alexander Titov, Senior expert at the Energy Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Kommersant on the prospects for the global coal market in 2026-2027.
Alexander Titov believes that so far there has been no increase in imports of thermal coal in India and China, and there are no fundamental factors for a steady rise in prices, only temporary rises. And the increase in supplies to India and China may cause either stagnation of production in these countries, which is not yet there, or weak production of local hydroelectric power plants, which was quite strong in the first half of the year, he points out.
