Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Pravda.Ru on the future of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
As for Nord Stream 2, its future will depend on whether the EU wants to maintain or even increase gas supplies from Russia.
“And then the question may arise as to whether we need to launch Nord Stream 2. If Germany and the European Commission agree with this, then this decision can be put into motion. I doubt it now. It seems to me that in the current conditions, it is unlikely that it will be adopted, because there are very serious political restrictions, and with a high probability, especially during the summer period, I think, at a minimum, the European side will continue to insist that Nord Stream 2 should not be launched, even in the face of reduced gas supplies from Russia," Kondratiev explained his point of view.
