Sergey Kondratiev, Principal Director on Economic Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, made comments to InfoTEC about the localization of gas turbine production.
Gazprom Energoholding (GEH) began construction of a plant that will produce blades for gas turbines. Serial production at the plant will begin in 2026, the capacity of the complex will be 34 thousand castings per year.
Sergey Kondratiev told that if Russia used to be dependent on foreign turbine blades, now the country may face a surplus of them.
"I think that by the end of the 2030s, the capacity deficit may be replaced by a surplus, which will be a serious challenge for manufacturers who, without access to foreign markets, may face a drop in capacity utilization and a decrease in profitability," the expert said.
