Sergey Kondratiev, Principal Director on Economic Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Kommersant FM on the gasoline exports ban introduction from Russia.
The ban introduction on gasoline exports will hit market players, Sergey Kondratiev stressed:
"The Ministry of Energy has been trying to avoid decisions related to a direct export ban in recent years. Nevertheless, measures of customs and tariff regulation were used more often, in particular, increased duties, and issues of quotas were also discussed.
But an outright export ban is a very serious measure, and from this point of view, it seemed to me that the regulator would try to avoid it, since this is quite serious pressure on the market.
If we use this mechanism often enough, it can seriously distort all market signals for players and, of course, affect their financial situation and, in general, the assessment of future investments."
