Sergey Kondratiev, Principal Director on Economic Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Delovoy Peterburg on the new port terminals construction in the Leningrad Region.

"For EuroChem, the North-West will remain a priority, since production assets are concentrated here (the plant in Kingisepp), and transshipment through Ust-Luga looks like the best option," Sergey Kondratiev believes.

He adds that the overall situation with ammonia transshipment is now particularly acute, at the same time two terminals have already been built to handle methanol in the ports of Temryuk and Kavkaz, which are almost not used today.

EuroChem plans to launch its own port facilities for ammonia within 1-3 years. According to Sergey Kondratiev, both ammonia and methanol are classified as dangerous goods, and if two terminals are designed at the same time, this may adversely affect their figures.
