Alexander Titov, Head of the Global Oil Market Sector of the Energy Department at the Institute for Energy and Finance, gave a comment to Rupec on the carbon fiber production.
Alexander Titov noted that the global capacity for the carbon fiber production is now about 110 thousand tons per year. Driven by demand from the aviation, space, automotive and energy industries, the carbon fiber market could grow to around 8% by 2030, he predicts.
Considering the strategy of Rosatom, which refers to the growth of carbon fiber production at the site in Alabuga to 10 thousand tons per year by 2030, Russia has a chance to become, though not leaders, but more or less noticeable players with good export potential, Titov concluded.
