Sergei Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance commented to the Prime Agency on the prospects for the export of natural gas from Russia.
The United States remains the most serious competitor for Russia, but the export resource there may be limited by new environmental initiatives by President Biden (reducing the use of hydraulic fracturing technologies) and rising domestic prices.
It is possible to maintain leadership through the construction of new LNG plants, which make it possible to monetize reserves located far from the GTS, as well as by increasing the export of pipeline gas to China and Europe.
"Both the European and Asian markets will grow in the coming years thanks to attention to the environmental agenda and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions," Kondratiev is convinced.
