Sofya Privalova (Savvina), senior expert at the Energy Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to Kommersant on the prospects for the dynamics of freight rates for the transportation of Russian coal from the ports of the Baltic and the Far East.
Sofya Privalova believes that the high level of coal freight will persist at least until the end of September. According to her, the onset of the off‑season in Asian countries and the associated decline in demand for coal, as well as the increase in available tonnage due to the fleet’s reorientation from the Black Sea to the Northwest, could help identify the rates' cup.
